About the role

As a Category Manager, you will work in our Purchasing Department and will be responsible for ensuring that purchase orders are raised and approved, goods and services are received and orders are receipted in a complete, accurate and timely manner.

You will be expected to liaise with stakeholders across the business to align the purchasing process with sales objectives and overall business strategy.

Depending upon experience, this role can attract potential earnings of £28-£33k per annum.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Purchasing principles and processes
  • Experience with purchasing systems (preferred)
  • Experienced with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Analytical and have the ability to solve purchasing and inventory related problems


  • Qualifications/experience
  • Bachelor degree preferably in a related or transferrable subject (preferred but not essential)
  • CIPS qualified to level 3 or above (preferred but not essential)
  • 3+ years’ experience in a purchasing role, including data entry (preferred but not essential)
  • Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiation of pricing and lead time with key vendors/factories
  • Raise purchase orders (PO) in line with business rules and stock forecasting software suggestions (including emailing the PO to the supplier where the system is not automated)
  • Establish sound relationships with suppliers, ensure lead times are met and expedite outstanding orders
  • Drive continuous improvement across the purchasing process giving rise to exceptional stock service levels and inventory value metrics
  • Liaise with the sales team (internal and external) to ensure new contracts and product requirements are forecasted accurately based on activity changes
  • Conduct product research as well as sourcing new supplier and vendors
  • Prepare reports on purchases, cost analysis and sales history
  • Attend trade shows and supplier product launches to stay up to date with industry trends
  • Keep abreast of key worldwide product safety standards, and their application to our products
  • Participate in new product development sessions internally, liaising with suppliers/vendors to introduce new items to our range

    This role is full time with working hours totalling 37.5 hours per week.
